Felix Magath slams "defamation of character"

Ex-Fulham boss Felix Magath claims that he was the victim of a "defamation of character" in his final days at the club.

Felix Magath has hit out at what he feels is a "defamation of character" following his sacking from Fulham last week.

The German was relieved of his duties after taking the club to the bottom of the Championship to follow on from last season's Premier League relegation.

In a lengthy post on Facebook, Magath claimed that some members of the Fulham squad turned to "malicious gossip" after being left out of the side.

Magath wrote: "It is very important in my profession to be judged objectively, as I can imagine all of you would also expect. I have no problem with constructive criticism, but malicious gossip just goes too far in my opinion.

"And I will most certainly defend myself against a defamation of character, which is put out to damage my reputation. It seems to me, that often players who are not performing on the pitch and are not in the spotlight, will make such ridiculous accusations.

"A world-class player in the mold (sic) of Michael Ballack or Raul, would never ever make such statements, class speaks for itself."

Kit Symons has taken over as caretaker boss for the Cottagers.
