Manchester City eye Jay Rodriguez?

Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez is reportedly a January transfer target of champions Manchester City.

Manchester City have reportedly given consideration to making a January bid for Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez.

Alvaro Negredo's loan departure to Valencia last month has left City manager Manuel Pellegrini with Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic as his only senior striking options, with the latter of that trio having recently picked up a hamstring injury.

Those circumstances have resulted in the interest in Rodriguez, who has been valued at £15m by the Saints, according to The Sun.

The report added that City's interest in Rodriguez has partly come about because of the centre-forward's home-grown status.

Rodriguez has scored 21 goals in 68 Premier League outings for Southampton.
