The absence of the 20-year-old has reignited their interest in Madrid's Portuguese international, with City readying a £20m bid, according to the Daily Mail.
City have already splashed out around £90m this summer for the attacking quartet
of Jesus Navas, Alvaro Negredo, Stevan Jovetic and Fernandinho.
