Chris Hughton holds Grant Holt talks

Chris Hughton is refusing to give up hope that he can convince captain Grant Holt to remain at Norwich City.

New Norwich City manager Chris Hughton has revealed that he has held discussions with unsettled striker Grant Holt.

Club captain Holt made it clear under previous boss Paul Lambert that he was eager to leave Carrow Road at the earliest point possible.

However, Hughton has not given up hope of convincing the 31-year-old to remain with the Canaries when he returns from a family holiday in Florida.

"I have spoken to Grant but not met him yet," said Hughton. "When I get back I will meet with him and make it clear that I want him to stay."

Holt ended last season as Norwich's leading goalscorer, having found the net on 15 occasions.
