Jurgen Klopp retains Champions League hope

Borussia Dortmund head coach Jurgen Klopp believes that his side still have a chance, albeit a slim one, against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Borussia Dortmund head coach Jurgen Klopp has insisted that his side are not yet out of the Champions League, despite a 3-0 defeat to Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in the first leg of the quarter-finals on Wednesday night.

Klopp agreed that a place in the semi-finals may well look unlikely, but said that his players would give their all in front of their own fans at Signal Iduna Park while there is still a slim chance.

"There are two games in this quarter final - one in Madrid, and the other in Dortmund," he told the club's official website. "We had many chances and could have scored four or five goals. We just made mistakes and got punished - Barcelona also conceded three goals here.

"We can learn from this game. We weren't cool enough and lacked the belief. We didn't make things uncomfortable enough for them.

"Let's say we've been in better situations and we're not really in any kind of position to lay down the gauntlet to them, but we have a duty to give it everything. We will do that because there is always a glimmer of hope."

Klopp's side are currently second in the Bundesliga, but have already conceded the title to Bayern Munich.
