George McCartney eyes West Ham United improvement

George McCartney believes that West Ham United can start climbing up the Premier League table after picking up four points from their last two games.

West Ham United defender George McCartney has said that he is confident that the team can start climbing up the Premier League table after picking up four points from their last two games.

The Hammers, who travel to Aston Villa this weekend, are currently one point adrift of safety in the standings following last Saturday's 2-0 win over Cardiff City.

However, McCartney believes that the return from injury of players such as Andy Carroll and Winston Reid can help propel the side out of danger.

"We've now got players back from injury and we're starting to show how strong our squad is," he told the club's official website. "Hopefully now we can keep it tight at the back, score goals and climb the table quickly.

"We're looking forward now to a big game at Aston Villa coming up. If we can get another clean sheet, a draw is not a bad result away from home."
