Roy Hodgson: 'I could miss England's best days'

Roy Hodgson has said the England new crop of talent may flourish under another manager.

Roy Hodgson has admitted that he may not see England's young players flourish during his time as manager of the national side.

The ex-Liverpool coach has shown faith in new talent, with the likes of Ross Barkley, Raheem Sterling and Luke Shaw all promoted to the senior team under his stewardship.

However, Hodgson has conceded that their best displays may come under the guidance of another manager.

He told The Mirror: "I don't know if I will be the manager who gets the best of them, but I suppose, looking forward, this team is mostly 21 or 22.

"People will tell me players don't reach their best until they are 27 or 28. So, realistically, perhaps it won't be me.

"What I will say is that I am enjoying enormously working with them, even though there is experience to gain. I am enjoying the moment where they gain that experience and they are providing a lot of things which give us a lot of satisfaction."

England face a trip to Estonia on Sunday after beating San Marino 5-0 on Thursday.
