Nikica Jelavic: 'Everton is a step forward'

Nikica Jelavic says that he is fully focused on his new career at Everton after leaving Rangers on deadline day.

Everton's new signing Nikica Jelavic believes that he made the right choice in signing for the Merseyside club.

The striker made the switch to Goodison Park on deadline day from Rangers for a fee in the region of £5.5m.

"The last two days were difficult for me," Jelavic said in a press conference. "I was struggling, but I am glad it is finally done and I am fully focused on Everton.

"I know [manager David Moyes] expects a lot of me. I can promise to do my best and score a lot of goals.

"The English Premier League is the biggest in the world. For me, it is a big step forward in my career. I want to prove myself here and play well for the club and supporters."

The former Rapid Vienna striker is likely to make his Toffees debut this Saturday when David Moyes's side travel to Wigan Athletic.
