Tom Cairney hoping to impress for Scotland

Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney hopes to replicate his club form when he turns out for Scotland during the international break.

Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney has revealed that he is hopeful of replicating his club form when he turns out for Scotland during the international break.

The 27-year-old has been in impressive form for Fulham this season - scoring three times and registering four assists in 26 Championship appearances during the 2017-18 campaign.

Cairney has only represented Scotland on one previous occasion, but will be looking to make an impression for his country in the upcoming international friendlies against Costa Rica and Hungary before the end of the month.

"I've been playing well the last few seasons for Fulham. I'm not at my peak yet but I'm playing good football and hopefully I can carry that on with Scotland," Cairney told reporters.

"I don't know what formation we are going to play but I'll just look to do what I do for my club, get on the ball, make us play and try to nick a goal when I can.

"I am 27 now, I've played a lot of games and I'd like to think I could try and get a place in this team as hard as that is. There is a lot of very good midfield players here so we'll just see."

Cairney's international debut came against Canada in March 2017.
