Giorgos Karagounis: "We're focused on our job"

Giorgos Karagounis insists that Greece can make a positive impact on Euro 2012 this summer.

Giorgos Karagounis has insisted that the Greek squad will not be listening to the negative predictions that are being made about their chances at Euro 2012.

Many have tipped the 2004 winners to fail to get out of a group which includes co-hosts Poland, Czech Republic and Russia.

However, veteran midfielder Karagounis believes that his side are capable of making a positive impact at the tournament.

"We're focused on our job, on what we believe, and if we truly have faith in our potential, we can achieve a lot of things," Karagounis told UEFA's official website.

"We know our potential, we don't expect others to tell us our advantages or deficiencies. We're not so interested in knowing what predictions the experts make about us.

"The same thing happened in 2004, and we ended up winning the tournament. All that is pure theory. It's not uncommon for experts to make wrong predictions."

Greece will feature in the opening match of the tournament on Friday against Poland.
