Pep Guardiola is likely to be tempted by a return to former side Barcelona following comments from presidential candidate Joan Laporta, according to a report.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola could supposedly be tempted by a return to former side Barcelona.

The Spaniard enjoyed a successful four years in the Camp Nou dugout between 2008 and 2012, winning three La Liga titles as well as two Champions Leagues with La Blaugrana.

Barcelona presidential candidate Joan Laporta recently announced his desire to reunite with Guardiola in Catalonia - a notion that could reportedly be too good to resist for the Man City boss.

According to The Mirror, Guardiola's future at the Etihad is still up in the air with the Citizens' two-year ban from European competition looming, and the 49-year-old would be open to a new challenge.

Laporta was the man who appointed Guardiola as Barcelona manager in 2008, and the report also claims that the Spaniard's wife and one of his children returned to Catalonia last year.

Guardiola, who won 179 of his 247 games while in charge at Barca, will see his contract at the Etihad expire next year.
