Manchester United confirm Rafael da Silva injury

Manchester United right-back Rafael da Silva suffers an injury in training which rules him out of the Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester United have revealed that Rafael da Silva has been ruled out of today's derby clash because of injury.

The Brazilian was expected to be a part of Louis van Gaal's four-man defence against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

However, the team news confirmed Rafael's absence, with Antonio Valencia starting at right-back in his place.

A post on the club's official Twitter page read: "Rafael misses the derby after picking up an injury on Thursday."
