Feyenoord defender Terence Kongolo is reportedly a transfer target of both Manchester United and Manchester City.
The 20-year-old is thought to have been tracked by United manager Louis van Gaal for a number of months, with a view to a £3m January bid being submitted.
However, champions City are also keen on the Netherlands international and they too could make an offer for his services, according to the Daily Star on Sunday.
The report added that City believe that they are in pole position to sign the centre-back because his 16-year-old brother Rodney is already a member of their academy.
Further speculation has suggested that, if either club concluded a deal for Kongolo, they would loan him back to Feyenoord for the remainder of the campaign.
