Cristiano Ronaldo: 'Real Madrid controlled the semi-final'

Real Madrid attacker Cristiano Ronaldo insists that his team 'deserved' to overcome Manchester City in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Cristiano Ronaldo has insisted that Real Madrid "controlled" the second leg of their Champions League semi-final against Manchester City on Wednesday night.

The Spanish giants booked their spot in the final of the competition courtesy of an own-goal from Fernando, who deflected a Gareth Bale cross into the back of his own net in the 20th minute.

Ronaldo, who also revealed that he is "happy" to have overcome a thigh problem to feature, has also welcomed another all-Madrid final with Atletico Madrid.

"It was a tough game, but I think we played better than Man City. We created more chances. I think we controlled all the game and we are happy to be in the final," Ronaldo told BT Sport. "We did create chances, but it was tough. It was a short result, but we are in the final.

"I did not do much training, but I played today. People doubted me, but I can recover fast. I am happy. No problems! It will be a tough final. It is 50/50. I am happy because it is special to play in the final. We are so happy for that."

Real Madrid will take on Atletico in a repeat of the 2014 final on May 28 in Milan.
