A report claims that Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to sell Christian Eriksen to Real Madrid for half of the amount they were after last summer.

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has reportedly phoned Real Madrid director Jose Angel Sanchez to offer the Spanish giants the chance to sign Christian Eriksen.

The roles were reversed last summer as Los Blancos enquired about the Danish playmaker's availability and were told to forget about making an offer.

Spanish outlet Marca claims that Levy instigated talks with opposite number Sanchez this time around as he is growing concerned by Eriksen's contract situation.

Eriksen has publicly indicated that he does not intend to sign a new deal, meaning that he will become a free agent in a year's time.

Tottenham originally wanted £135m for the ex-Ajax ace, but the report suggests that they are now simply hoping to raise around half that sum.
