Sir Alex Ferguson: 'Gary Neville will be successful in management'

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson backs former player Gary Neville to be successful in management, following his appointment as head coach at Valencia.

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has suggested that former Red Devils right-back Gary Neville will be successful in management.

The 40-year-old was appointed as head coach at La Liga side Valencia earlier today, and Ferguson - who coached Neville to eight Premier League titles - believes that the former United captain has the leadership attributes to thrive as a coach.

"Gary has many attributes that suggest he will be successful in management," Ferguson told Sky Sports News. "His leadership skills are strong, he's honest and he's hard-working.

"He is the type of character who is not afraid of making big decisions, which is a vital skill when leading. I think he'll do well and I wish him, and his brother Phil, good luck."

Neville, who made 85 international appearances for England, will take charge of his first match in Valencia's Champions League clash with Lyon next Wednesday.
