Chelsea are understood to be ready to open talks with captain John Terry over a new contract at the club.
The defender's current terms, reportedly worth around £175,000 per week, are due to expire in 2014.
The European champions could now offer the 32-year-old a 12-month extension to stay at Stamford Bridge, according to the Evening Standard.
Terry has not played for Chelsea in over a month after suffering a knee injury and he is expected to be out of action until the New Year.
