Daniel Sturridge dismisses claims that he made numerous demands during reported transfer discussions with Liverpool.

Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge has rubbished speculation that he had demanded £80,000 a week during reported transfer negotiations with Liverpool.

It had been claimed that the England international was keen to leave the Blues during the January transfer window in order to gain regular starting action. In turn, that news was said to have alerted Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, who is thought to be keen to bolster his attacking options.

The report, written by The Mirror, also suggested that Sturridge had seeked assurances that he would be considered a key member of the Liverpool squad should he accept the move.

However, through his representatives Octagon, the 23-year-old has insisted that he made no such demands.

"Daniel Sturridge does not conduct his business in public. He also does not make demands in any negotiation, with regards to salary or his playing position," read a statement.

Sturridge was absent from Chelsea's training session earlier today ahead of tomorrow's Champions League clash with Nordsjaelland.
