Everton are reportedly closing in on their first signing of the January transfer window and their first since the return of manager David Moyes.
The Toffees officially confirmed on Saturday morning that Moyes will succeed Sean Dyche, who was relieved of his duties just under 48 hours earlier.
Moyes returns to management after leaving West Ham United at the end of the last season, and he takes charge of Everton for a second time, 11-and-a-half years after leaving the club for Manchester United.
The 61-year-old "didn't hesitate" to re-join the Merseysiders and is looking forward to helping the club's new owners - the Friedkin Group - rebuild the club that currently sits just one point above the Premier League relegation zone.
Before moving into a brand new stadium next season, Moyes's immediate priority is to steer Everton away from the relegation picture, and the addition of a few new players this month could help their survival bid.

Everton closing in on Nuamah signing?
One name who could soon be donning the blue and white of Everton is Ernest Nuamah, as Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna claims that the Lyon winger is "one step away" from joining the Toffees.
Everton were allegedly close to signing Nuamah last summer, with the 21-year-old agreeing personal terms with the Premier League club.
A transfer to Goodison Park ultimately failed to materialise for Nuamah, but it is now understood that an agreement has almost been reached between all parties, with discussions between the Toffees and Lyon said to be ongoing.
Nuamah was also strongly linked with a move to Fulham last summer, but he opted to remain at Lyon where he has made 49 first-team appearances in all competitions, including 16 outings this season.

Who is Ghanaian winger Ernest Nuamah?
The 12-cap Ghana international began his career in his homeland at the Right to Dream Academy before being snapped up by Danish side Nordsjaelland in January 2022.
Nuamah established himself as a star player Nordsjaelland, recording 20 goals and five assists in 49 appearances, before making the move to Belgian side RWD Molenbeek in August 2023.
However, Nuamah was immediately loaned to Lyon and their option to buy the 5ft 10 in winger for around €30m was activated in July last year, after he chipped in with three goals and two assists in 29 Ligue 1 games.
Amid Lyon's well-documented financial problems - with an astonishing provisional demotion to Ligue 2 announced two months ago - Nuamah's move to the Premier League now appears to be back on, with Everton edging closer to securing his services.
