Sunderland eye move for Alexander Buttner?

Sunderland reportedly want to sign Manchester United left-back Alexander Buttner but the Red Devils will only sell if they complete a deal for Leighton Baines.

Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio will move for Alexander Buttner if Leighton Baines signs for Manchester United, according to a report.

The Black Cats are in the market for a left-back after Danny Rose returned to Tottenham Hotspur following a successful loan spell at the Stadium of Light last season.

Di Canio has earmarked Buttner to fill the void but United are only willing to allow Buttner to leave if they sign Baines before the transfer window shuts on Monday, reports The Express.

Sunderland are 19th in the Premier League and have taken just one point from their opening three games following their defeat to Crystal Palace.
