Nottingham Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo suggests that he will not get carried away by his side moving up to fifth place in the Premier League table after Friday's win at Leicester City.

Nottingham Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has insisted that he is not interested about the current Premier League table.

The East Midlands outfit went into Friday's derby with Leicester City having accumulated 13 points from eight games and suffering just the one defeat.

Nuno's side produced yet another positive showing at the King Power Stadium, running out 3-1 victors courtesy of a long-range Ryan Yates strike and two Chris Wood goals.

Ahead of the remaining games over the weekend, Forest now sit in fifth position in the standings, just one point adrift of third-placed Arsenal.

Arguably most importantly, Forest are already 13 points clear of the relegation zone having only narrowed avoid the drop in 2023-24.

Forest playing for the fans

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Nuno was quick to emphasise that he is taking little notice of Forest's rise up the table.

Instead, the Portuguese is focused on giving the club's supporters more positive moments than they have experienced since their return to the Premier League in 2022.

He said: "It's not about the table. What is more important is seeing the fans how they are today. We see these players work every day and we demand from them.

"It was a tough season last season but it's in the past. Now we have a new cycle. More important than anything is the bind inside of the pitch."

Nuno added: "It's the commitment. This group wants to progress and they want to make the fans enjoy. The limit is the next training session and then against West Ham, it'll be tough."

Nuno talks up Wood impact

Wood has been the undoubted star of Forest's season thus far, the New Zealand international having now scored seven goals in his nine Premier League starts.

Nuno said: "He's done an amazing job. He's very honest and he gives everything on the pitch for us. We are delighted and we want to continue. Chris deserves his plaudits."

Despite conceding against the Foxes, Forest remain with the second-best defensive record in the division, only bettered by Liverpool who they defeated in September.
