Jay Rodriguez expresses his delight at Southampton's 2-0 win over struggling Reading.

Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez has described his side's 2-0 win over Reading earlier today as "massive".

The victory has moved the Saints up to 11th in the Premier League table and has also put seven points between themselves and the drop zone.

"I thought we played really well today and stuck to our gameplan," Rodriguez told Sky Sports News. "It is a massive three points for us, it is so tight at the bottom, so three points are massive."

Rodriguez opened the scoring for Southampton during the first half, before substitute Adam Lallana made sure of the outcome in the closing stages.
