Harry Redknapp believes that England have the best back five of all the teams at Euro 2012.

Harry Redknapp believes that England are contenders to win Euro 2012 because they have the best defence in the tournament.

The Tottenham Hotspur boss, who was the bookmakers' favourite to get the Three Lions manager's job before Roy Hodgson was appointed, has described Hodgson's squad as "outstanding".

"I wouldn't write us off. Roy has them well organised and we have outstanding players," said Redknapp. "The goalkeeper is as good as any and Ashley Cole's the best left-back.

"John Terry and Joleon Lescott? I can't see there being a better central defensive pair. There also won't be too many better right-backs than Glen Johnson around.

"I don't think you'll find a superior back five and that gives Roy a great base to work from."

England face France in their Group D opener later today.
