Gareth Bale and Gylfi Sigurdsson both score as Tottenham Hotspur complete their pre-season tour of America with a 2-1 win over New York Red Bulls.

Tottenham Hotspur have completed their tour of America with a 2-1 victory over New York Red Bulls in New Jersey.

The match started at a quick pace and the Red Bulls were gifted an opportunity to take the lead when Jan Vertonghen fouled Tim Cahill, who was making his debut for the MLS side, and the referee awarded a penalty.

Kenny Cooper was given the responsibility to take the penalty and he made no mistake to give the Red Bulls the lead from 12 yards.

Despite the early goal, it was Spurs who enjoyed the majority of possession but a stubborn New York side was well supported by goalkeeper Bill Gaudette and they still held the lead at half-time.

It took Spurs 15 minutes to find a goal after the interval and it was Gareth Bale who levelled the match with a well-placed header from an accurate Gylfi Sigurdsson corner.

The Premier League side continued to press and Andre Villas-Boas's team found the winner in the 65th minute as Sigurdsson cut in from the wing to curl a shot past Gaudette in the Red Bulls goal.

Spurs seemed happy to relax after the second goal and were rarely threatened in the latter stages of the game, with New York keeping one eye on an MLS match against Houston Dynamo on Friday.
