Liverpool 'to sign defender Yerry Mina on loan from Barcelona'

Liverpool reportedly lead a number of Spanish clubs in the race to sign Barcelona defender Yerry Mina on a season-long loan deal.

Liverpool are looking to bring in Barcelona defender Yerry Mina on loan for the 2018-19 campaign, according to a report.

The 23-year-old has been used just four times in all competitions by Ernesto Valverde since arriving from Palmeiras midway through the campaign.

Valverde is now hoping to send Mina away from Camp Nou to gain experience in European football and, according to El Chiringuito, Liverpool lead the race to land the Colombian.

Competition will reportedly be provided by Sevilla, Valencia, Villarreal and Celta Vigo, however, with Spanish clubs not put off by his lack of playing time in recent months.

Mina was given a 10-minute runout in Barca's 5-1 win against Villarreal on Tuesday night, claiming an assist for Ousmane Dembele's second goal of the game.
