Manchester United are reportedly ready to rival Arsenal in the race to secure the services of Roma sporting director Monchi.

Manchester United have reportedly decided that they are prepared to rival Arsenal for Roma sporting director Monchi.

Both of the Premier League giants are in the market for a new figure behind the scenes, with United rejigging their technical setup ahead of the summer transfer window and Arsenal needing to replace Sven Mislintat.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with an approach for Monchi - who has previously worked with Unai Emery - but according to The Mirror, United are considering an offer.

The Spaniard has a long-term contract at the Stadio Olimpico, but it has been suggested that Roma have already started to contemplate the possibility of replacing the 50-year-old.

Monchi enjoyed a successful period with Emery at Sevilla, although United may feel that they can tempt him into a switch to Old Trafford in the coming months.
