Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has reportedly been putting in extra work on the training ground in order to boost his chances of returning to the first XI.

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is reportedly putting in extra work on the training ground in order to return to the first-team squad as soon as possible.

The World Cup winner has been hindered by an ankle problem since the start of September, reducing him to just four appearances since September 25.

Last week, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suggested that the France international was due to return to first-team training this week.

However, according to Manchester Evening News, the 26-year-old has been staying later than required at United's training ground after physiotherapy sessions with the club's medical team.

While Pogba is unlikely to feature against LASK Linz or Tottenham Hotspur this week, the playmaker will hope to be involved in the reverse fixture against the former on March 19.

Real Madrid and Juventus continue to monitor the situation of Pogba ahead of a potential bid during the summer transfer window.
