Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirms that the club have not ruled out bringing in another striker, despite agreeing fresh terms with Edinson Cavani.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has suggested that Manchester United are in the market for a new striker amid strong links with a move for Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane.

United, along with Manchester City, Chelsea, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, have been put on red alert after Kane supposedly asked to leave Spurs earlier this week.

The England captain is said to be seeking a new challenge following a 17-year spell on Tottenham's books, eight of those as a first-team regular.

United are believed to be in a position to purchase Kane, but negotiating with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy could prove a massive hurdle.

The Red Devils have moved to tie striker Edinson Cavani down to a new contract to keep him in place for another season, but Solskjaer insisted that will not alter his transfer plans.

"We're looking to strengthen the squad this summer," he said after Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Fulham. "Of course there's many things you have to consider when putting a squad together.

"I'm not saying if Edison stays that means someone else in a forward position won't come in."

United's draw with Fulham, combined with Leicester City's 2-1 loss to Chelsea, ensured that Solskjaer's men will finish in second place in the Premier League.
