Wilkins tells Rooney: 'Stay at Man United'
Former Manchester United and Chelsea player Ray Wilkins believes that Wayne Rooney should not leave the Premier League champions.

Ray Wilkins has urged Wayne Rooney to remain at Manchester United.

The England international striker is believed to be keen on a move to Chelsea before the end of the summer transfer window, but so far the Blues have failed with two bids for his services.

However, Wilkins, who had playing stints with both clubs and also coached at Chelsea, believes that the 27-year-old has a better chance of winning trophies at Old Trafford.

"It shouldn't end this way, it's getting horrible," he told talkSPORT. "Once you leave Manchester United, there's only one way you're going.

"Man United are in the top three biggest clubs on the planet, therefore they will always buy and buy and buy because they always want to be successful. If you want to win things, then there's no better club to be at than Manchester United."

Rooney is not part of the United squad that has travelled to Sweden for a pre-season friendly this evening because of a shoulder injury.
