Harry Redknapp makes claims on match betting

Harry Redknapp suggests in a video secretly filmed by The Telegraph that he became aware that some of his players had placed a bet on one of his team's matches.

Harry Redknapp has said that he became aware that some of his players had placed a bet on the outcome of one of their matches, according to The Telegraph.

The veteran boss - who has managed six English clubs during his career - is the latest name to be published by the newspaper in a week where it has revealed details on an investigation into alleged corruption in football.

While there is no suggestion that Redknapp was aware of any bets being placed before an unspecified match, comments made in a video secretly filmed by undercover reporters suggest that he, at some stage, found out that bets were placed on a game which took place on the final weekend of the season.

Football Association rules forbid players from placing any bet on a match in which they are involved, while managers are expected to inform the governing body should they receive information of any rules potentially being broken.

Redknapp has since told the newspaper that he did not think that any offence had been committed at the time of the match in question.
