Police launch investigation into Rotherham United, Millwall crowd trouble

South Yorkshire Police will launch an investigation looking into the scenes of violence which blighted the Championship match between Rotherham United and Millwall.

An investigation has been launched by South Yorkshire Police following crowd trouble at yesterday's Championship match between Rotherham United and Millwall at the New York Stadium.

A number of supporters attempted to invade the pitch after the Millers' 85th-minute goal, which sealed a 2-1 victory for the home side in the basement battle.

It has been reported that several stewards were attacked during the incident, with further violence breaking out as fans left the ground.

No arrests have been made at this stage, although it has now been confirmed that a full investigation will be conducted with the aid of CCTV footage.
