Tottenham Hotspur's Premier League trip to face Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday is postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak at the North London club.

Sunday's Premier League match between Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur has been postponed due to the outbreak of COVID-19 at the North London club.

Spurs boss Antonio Conte confirmed on Wednesday that 13 people at the club - including eight players and five members of the coaching staff - had tested positive for coronavirus.

Tottenham's Europa Conference League match against Rennes, which was due to be played on Thursday evening, was subsequently postponed, and they also submitted a request to have Sunday's game at the Amex called off too.

The Premier League have now granted that request, with a date for the rearranged fixture to be announced in due course.

"The Premier League Board has taken the decision to postpone the game following guidance from medical advisers, with the health of players and staff the priority," read a statement from the Premier League.

Spurs also released their own statement on their official club website: "We can confirm that our Premier League fixture at Brighton & Hove Albion, on Sunday 12 December at 2pm, has been postponed following a Premier League Board meeting this afternoon (Thursday).

"The Premier League Board took the decision to postpone the game following guidance from medical advisers, with the health of players and staff the priority. The fixture will be rescheduled in due course. The club requested the match to be rearranged following a significant number of positive COVID-19 cases among players and relevant staff.

"As with our other affected fixture, against Stade Rennais in the Europa Conference League, we shall update supporters with more information as soon as it is available.

"We should like to apologise to everyone at Stade Rennais and Brighton & Hove Albion and to both their supporters and ours for any inconvenience caused. We should also like to thank both clubs for their understanding during these challenging times."

Tottenham's next scheduled match comes against Leicester City on December 16, before they face Liverpool three days later.
