Manchester City looking to equal all-time club clean sheet record

Manchester City can keep seven clean sheets in a row across all competitions for the first time since 1947 when they welcome Tottenham Hotspur to the Etihad on Saturday.

Manchester City will be aiming to equal an all-time club clean sheet record when they welcome Tottenham Hotspur to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening.

Pep Guardiola's seemingly unstoppable charges recently broke the all-time English record for most consecutive wins by a top-flight club in all competitions, and victory today would mark their 16th on the trot.

A key aspect of Man City's remarkable streak has been their defensive prowess, as Guardiola has witnessed his team ship just three goals in their last 14 league games - two of them away from home.

City have already gone six home games across all competitions without conceding, and should Tottenham fail to breach their defence on Saturday, the hosts will equal an all-time club record of seven consecutive clean sheets on familiar territory.

The Citizens last achieved such a feat in the 1946-47 campaign - when they were crowned second division champions - and they will temporarily move eight points clear of Manchester United at the top if they take the spoils against Tottenham.

On a personal level, Guardiola will hope to avoid setting an unwanted losing record of three consecutive league defeats to a single opponent, as Spurs have come up trumps in the last two top-flight meetings between the clubs.
