Agent: 'Shinji Kagawa is not leaving Manchester United'

The agent of Shinji Kagawa states that the midfielder will stay at Manchester United, despite reports of a possible exit.

Shinji Kagawa's agent Thomas Kroth has insisted that the midfielder will remain a Manchester United player this season.

Recent reports have emerged claiming that the Japan international could be offloaded due to his failure to keep a spot in the first team at Old Trafford.

While it has been confirmed that Atletico Madrid were interested in a loan switch for Kagawa, Kroth has claimed that the 24-year-old wants to stay put.

"Shinji will currently not be leaving Manchester United. He wants to fight for his place," ESPN quotes Kroth as saying. "Because of the Confederations Cup, he did not have a full pre-season and therefore still has a training deficit.

"That's why he, until now, has won hardly any playing time. Atletico made an enquiry, although this was never an issue for Shinji."

A number of Borussia Dortmund fans have created an online 'free Shinji' campaign in a bid to convince the Bundesliga club to re-sign Kagawa, who left the German outfit last summer.
