Luis Enrique wants Pedro to stay at Barcelona

Luis Enrique says that he does not want Pedro to leave Barcelona, despite a reduction in his release clause.

Barcelona manager Luis Enrique has said that he does not want Pedro to leave the club this summer.

The 27-year-old endured a frustrating season at Camp Nou last term, and made just 15 starts in La Liga.

It has led to increased speculation over his future at the Spanish champions, but Enrique has insisted that he wants the forward to stay put.

"I don't want him to go, but he has a clause in his contract and I will respect his opinion," Enrique told reporters.

"I never cheat my players and they know that I am not going to promise minutes to anyone. I hope Pedro stays, though, as has been the case with Marc Bartra. I made requests and they have been met. Now I don't know whether players will leave or be sold."

Pedro has spent his entire career at Barcelona and has made over 300 appearances for the club.
