Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has revealed that John Carew will join the club on a 15-day trial.
The Italian club will then decide whether to offer a contract to the 33-year-old striker, who has been without a club since leaving West Ham United last summer.
"Carew will remain here for a 15-day trial period," he told reporters on Tuesday. "After 15 days, we will decide whether to keep him in the squad.
"In any case, Tommaso Rocchi is doing well in training and we believe in him."
Carew will replace Diego Milito in the team following the Argentine forward's knee ligament injury that has ruled him out for the remainder of the season.
