Samir Nasri: 'Vincent Kompany red card was wrong'

Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasir insists that Vincent Kompany should not have been sent off against Hull City.

Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri has claimed that referee Lee Mason was wrong to send off captain Vincent Kompany during their Premier League game at Hull City.

The defender was dismissed in the 10th minute of City's 2-0 victory at the KC Stadium after he brought down Hull striker Nikica Jelavic.

However, Nasri believes that Jelavic should have been penalised first.

"Again, it was a mistake from an official because the first foul was on Vinny and he took a red card, so for 80 minutes we played with 10 men," he told the Manchester Evening News.

"The first foul was from Jelavic on Vincent, and he was just trying not to let him go one-on-one with [goalkeeper] Joe [Hart]. Of course it's a foul, but the first foul was on Vincent."

Kompany will miss City's next match against Fulham on Saturday.
