Louis van Gaal taking positives from Chelsea draw

Louis van Gaal says that he is taking positives from Manchester United's draw with Chelsea.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has insisted that he will take the positives from Sunday's 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

Robin van Persie struck deep into stoppage time to rescue a point for the Red Devils, but the result still leaves Van Gaal's team 10 points adrift of the Premier League leaders.

However, the Dutchman claimed that he was taking heart from the fact that his side were able to match Jose Mourinho's men at Old Trafford.

He told Sky Sports News: "It is again the same song. We have created a lot of chances but we don't finish these chances and then Chelsea make the first goal and then it's much more difficult because Chelsea is playing on more possession and make the pitch big and we have to run and run.

"But, 10 minutes after the goal, I think we keep together again and I think we deserved the last goal but I have seen that we could have won, also, against Chelsea.

"I'm saying that nearly every game but that's a good sign, I think, because Chelsea are top level and we were at least equal."

United travel to local rivals Manchester City next week.
