Brighton & Hove Albion centre-back Lewis Dunk emerges as a transfer target for Manchester United, according to a report.

Manchester United have reportedly identified Brighton & Hove Albion centre-back Lewis Dunk as a target, with the 32-year-old entering the final two years of his contract at the Amex.

Dunk made his first-team debut for Brighton in 2010, and he has represented the Seagulls on 462 occasions in all competitions, scoring 31 goals and registering 15 assists in the process.

The defender has proven himself to be a dependable performer in the Premier League, making 244 appearances in England's top flight, but his contract is due to expire in June 2026, and it is believed that he could be on the move next summer.

According to Fichajes, Man United are keeping a close eye on Dunk's situation, with the Red Devils attracted by his 'experience and leadership'.

Man United 'interested' in move for Dunk

The report claims that the 20-time English champions will look to sign an experienced centre-back next summer, with the futures of Jonny Evans, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof all uncertain.

Evans is likely to retire next summer when his Man United deal expires, while Lindelof is set to leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

Maguire could also depart next year, which would leave Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro as the three centre-back options for the Red Devils.

Dunk's experience could therefore be invaluable, with the six-time England international one of the most solid centre-backs in the Premier League over the last few years.

The defender's debut for Brighton came in League One, and he was a Championship player as recent as 2017, but the Seagulls have since established themselves in the Premier League.

Would Dunk be a good signing for Man United?

Dunk's ability to stay clear of injury has been hugely impressive, making at least 33 Premier League appearances in six of his seven seasons in England's top flight.

This season, the Englishman has featured three times, helping his team to pick up seven points from their opening three league matches, including a 2-1 success over Man United.

Dunk would not be a statement signing by the Red Devils, but if Evans, Lindelof and Maguire all move on, then he could be the perfect acquisition to help aid Martinez, Yoro and De Ligt moving forward.
