Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe reportedly remains as a summer transfer target for Real Madrid.
At a time when the French giants have completed the signing of Lionel Messi, speculation will only intensify regarding the long-term future of Mbappe.
Despite the World Cup winner having less than a year remaining on his contract, PSG have publicly insisted that the 22-year-old will stay at Parc des Princes.
Nevertheless, according to AS, Real Madrid intend to wait until the closing days of the transfer window to test PSG's resolve over the matter.
While club officials will likely press ahead with contract negotiations, PSG will not want to risk losing one of their most prized assets on a free transfer.
Taking their time to launch a bid for Mbappe will also allow Real to reduce their wage bill over the coming weeks.
