Burnley have cancelled the contract of striker Marvin Sordell by mutual consent, the club have confirmed.

The 24-year-old, who joined the Clarets from Bolton Wanderers in August 2014, had two years remaining on his deal at Turf Moor.

Sordell made 21 appearances for the recently-relegated Championship side, scoring just one goal.

Sordell has scored three goals in 13 appearances for England Under-21s, and featured for Great Britain at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
