Michael Raynes has signed a one-year contract with League Two side Carlisle United.
The 27-year-old has made the switch following his release by Mansfield Town.
"He's a big, solid central defender who knows the level and the game. He's a communicator and he's another I'm looking forward to working with," manager Keith Curle told the club's official website.
"I could see in his eyes that he has the hunger to come here and help us be successful and, again, he's shown me he has the type of character and attitude I want to work with."
Confirmation of Raynes's arrival has come less than 24 hours after Carlisle revealed that they had reached an agreement to sign Bradford City midfielder Jason Kennedy.
