Darren Bent has confirmed that a shoulder injury forced him to pull out of the England squad that is due to play Holland on Wednesday evening.
The Aston Villa striker's omission had been unknown, some reports suggesting that he had been dropped by manager Fabio Capello in favour of Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck.
However, the 27-year-old has now revealed that injury prohibited his involvement.
"Gutted I had to pull out of the England squad," Bent confirmed on Twitter. "The shoulder has been bothering me and want to make sure I'm fully fit for the big KO [kick off] next week."
Bent has scored three international goals for England.
