Victor Moses believes Liverpool are title contenders

Liverpool winger Victor Moses insists that there is no reason why his new side cannot defy the odds to win the Premier League this season.

Liverpool winger Victor Moses has insisted that his new side have the quality and belief to win the Premier League this season.

The Reds are top of the table early in the campaign after winning three of their first four matches.

Moses made his debut for the Reds last Monday against Swansea City, marking his maiden appearance with a goal in a 2-2 draw at the Liberty Stadium.

The Nigerian international believes that Brendan Rodgers is building something special at Anfield, declaring that a top-four finish should not be the ceiling of their ambitions for the campaign.

He told the Daily Star: "Look at the way we've started, and we're still unbeaten. I believe we can win the title.

"There's enough quality players here that can win us games and help us to win the Premier League. A lot of people are saying that Liverpool can finish in the top four, but we believe in ourselves as footballers.

"We're very confident, not just me but the other players, that we can be looking beyond the top four. This year is a lot different. If you look at the way the table is at the moment, anyone can win the league."

Liverpool are back in Premier League action later today against Southampton, with the Reds looking for a third successive victory at Anfield.
