Jamie Redknapp tips Lazar Markovic to shine

Ex-Liverpool captain Jamie Redknapp tips 20-year-old Lazar Markovic to shine for the club after signing from Benfica this summer.

Former Liverpool captain Jamie Redknapp has backed Lazar Markovic to shine for the club this coming season.

The 20-year-old Serbian winger joined from Benfica for around £20m, and Redknapp thinks that the youngster will excite the Anfield faithful when the campaign gets underway.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said: "Lazar Markovic looks good at Liverpool. I watched him for Benfica last season and he reminded me a bit of Patrik Berger in the way he ghosted past people.

"It is effortless for him and the winger is happy to have the ball in tight areas."

Liverpool have spent around £90m this summer on the likes of Markovic, Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Emre Can, Javier Manquillo and Divock Origi, although the latter will remain on loan at Lille.
