Shay Given: 'Middlesbrough ready for Premier League return'

Shay Given is confident that Middlesbrough are ready to return to the Premier League.

Shay Given has insisted that Middlesbrough are ready to make their return to the top flight of English football.

Middlesbrough are currently 14th in the Championship, 11 points outside the playoff spots, but Given is refusing to rule out the possibility of Aitor Karanka's side earning promotion to the Premier League.

"It's a club that is geared up for the Premier League," the goalkeeper told the club's official website.

"Recently, we have had too many draws and that's cost us, but we have seen it before where teams put a run together and there's nothing to say this club can't get back where I think it belongs."

Given's loan spell at the Riverside Stadium will finish after Saturday's match against Leeds United.
