Tottenham Hotspur reportedly identify Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun as a potential replacement for Harry Kane.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly prepared to consider an approach for Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun.

On Sunday afternoon, Spurs commenced their 2023-24 Premier League campaign with a 2-2 draw at Brentford, a day after Harry Kane had departed for Bayern Munich.

Richarlison led the line as an alternative to the club's all-time leading goalscorer, and Argentine youngster Alejo Veliz has been acquired as one for the future.

However, the Spurs hierarchy are expected to act in the transfer market before the end of the month in order to secure the services of another experienced frontman.

In recent weeks, a wide array of names have been associated with a switch to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Chelsea's Romelu Lukaku allegedly among those being considered.

While Lukaku is available for a fee in the region of £35m, one which may be deemed value for money by Spurs, a transfer to a London rival would be deemed as controversial.

Nevertheless, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Spurs are prepared to sign Balogun from neighbours Arsenal if a deal suits all parties.

The United States international is in line to depart the Emirates Stadium before the end of the transfer window with the Gunners keen to cash in on his signature.

Balogun netted 21 goals in 37 outings in Ligue 1 for Reims in 2022-23, a return that far exceeded expectations yet now provides Arsenal with a chance to generate a fee that would go a long way to boosting their FFP position.

Arsenal would allegedly look to recoup in the region of €55m (£47.5m) for a player that has less than two years left on his contract and who has only made 10 appearances for their first team.

That said, they may be less inclined to budge on a fee if they feel that they would be strengthening a fierce rival and potential competition in the Premier League.

Ange Postecoglou is allegedly also interested in Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic, who may be allowed to leave Turin if a bid in excess of £70m is made by an interested club.

Iran international Mehdi Taremi, who has contributed 80 goals and 49 assists from just 148 appearances in a legendary spell for Porto, is another option, particularly when the 31-year-old's contract expires at the end of the season.
