Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah has resumed full training with the Reds after recovering from the muscular injury he picked up at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The former Chelsea and Roma attacker - who has seldom been confined to the treatment room since joining the Reds - flew straight back to Merseyside after sustaining the injury against Ghana in his side's second group game.

Salah elected to return to Liverpool for treatment, although Egypt were hopeful that the 31-year-old would return to Ivory Coast for the latter stages of the tournament if his side were to progress that far.

However, without the services of their most revered player, the Pharaohs lost to DR Congo on penalties in the last 16, thereby crashing out of the competition without winning a single game.

Egypt were dumped out of the AFCON on the same day that Liverpool strolled past Norwich City 5-2 in the FA Cup, and he has since missed Premier League meetings with Chelsea, Arsenal and Burnley.

While Liverpool secured straightforward home victories over Chelsea and Burnley in Salah's absence, the Reds were deservedly beaten 3-1 by Arsenal at the Emirates, where their lead over the Gunners at the top of the table shortened to just two points.

Jurgen Klopp's men boast an identical advantage over reigning champions Manchester City, although the Citizens boast a game in hand, meaning that the Premier League title is currently out of an injury-hit Liverpool's hands.

However, a sight for sore Reds eyes arrived on Tuesday afternoon, as Salah was spotted back in full training for the first time since sustaining his injury, firstly emerging with his teammates with a beaming smile on his face.

Photos from Liverpool's training session uploaded later in the day showed Salah being put through his paces with the ball at his feet, although whether he is available for this weekend's clash with Brentford remains to be seen.

Prior to the beating of Burnley, Klopp told the media that Salah was on track to resume "parts of training" this week, as the attacker closes in on his first Liverpool appearance since New Year's Day.

On that occasion, the 31-year-old scored a brace and provided an assist in Liverpool's 4-2 beating of Newcastle United, taking his total for the campaign to 18 goals and nine assists from 27 matches in all tournaments.

As well as Salah's return to training, Alisson Becker and Joe Gomez were also present at Kirkby after a bout of flu - which made its way around Liverpool's training base - kept them out of Saturday's success over Burnley.

Ibrahima Konate will also return from suspension for the trip to Brentford on Saturday, and Conor Bradley - who has missed two games following the death of his father - was involved in Tuesday's training session too.

However, there was no sign of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who tweaked his knee against the Clarets over the weekend, or Dominik Szoboszlai, whose hamstring injury could potentially rule him out of the EFL Cup final with Chelsea on February 25.

Joel Matip (knee) and Stefan Bajcetic (calf) remain out for the long-term, and Thiago Alcantara - only just back from a nasty hip problem - has re-entered the medical bay with a new muscle injury sustained in the loss to Arsenal.
