Manchester City have allegedly identified one of their former academy players as a potential transfer target for 2025.
The right-back position in Pep Guardiola's squad is currently a hot topic of debate courtesy of the downturn in form of Kyle Walker.
Although he has remained a regular in the starting lineup since regaining full fitness earlier in the season, the 34-year-old's place in the team is currently at risk.
Since the beginning of November, Walker has completed the 90 minutes in six defeats across all competitions, and it remains to be seen whether he will remain in the first XI over the Christmas period.
According to Football Insider, City officials have a specific player in mind should they look to replace Walker as soon as possible.

Frimpong back on City radar?
The report alleges that Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong has been placed on City's shortlist ahead of the January and summer transfer windows next year.
Frimpong is no stranger to life in the North-West of England having spent nine years in the youth ranks at the Etihad Stadium.
He has since progressed into one of the best attack-minded full-backs in Europe, contributing an incredible 27 goals and 40 assists in 165 appearances in all competitions.
While the Netherlands international has a contract until 2028, Frimpong has been frequently linked with a move to another top European club.
Whether Leverkusen entertain a sale remains to be seen, with there already being the potential of seeing head coach Xabi Alonso and other key figures leave at the end of the season.

A second chance under Guardiola?
During his first stint at City, Frimpong was a regular fixture in the academy sides without being provided with an opportunity by Pep Guardiola.
At the time, it was not necessarily viewed as a big deal, yet weekly football at Celtic between 2019 and 2021 enabled Frimpong to prove any doubters wrong.
Rico Lewis is currently viewed as Walker's understudy and a potential successor, yet Frimpong has the potential to arrive at City and keep Lewis on the substitutes' bench.
