Sir Alex Ferguson insists that his presence at Manchester United will not hinder incoming manager David Moyes.

Sir Alex Ferguson has insisted that his presence at Manchester United will not hinder new manager David Moyes next season.

Ferguson, who sees over his 1,500th and final United game on Sunday, will take up a directorial role when he retires at the end of the season.

The Scot has said that there will be no repeat of what happened when Sir Matt Busby retired and the club seemed to suffer with the adjustment.

"If you go back to Sir Matt, he was in the same situation that I now find myself in," said Ferguson. "But once I retire it won't be hard to let go. I did it last week.

"The future is all about David Moyes and he will get the full backing of everyone at Manchester United, including myself. This isn't the end for Manchester United as far as winning titles is concerned. They'll win titles under David and I will get on with my life.

"The club have looked after me. The ambassadorial role will be defined by United. I will only be working 20 days a year and there's plenty of other things I want to do in my retirement. David will be fine."

United will take on West Bromwich Albion tomorrow afternoon in Ferguson's final match.
